The history of the Ch\u00e2teau, starting from the 18th century, is built on a passion for wine shared by the men and women who dedicated themselves to it, driven by ideals of perfection.<\/p>\n

On April 18, 1785, Jeanne and Bertrand Braneyre acquired the Les Gunes vineyard and cultivated five hectares of vines under this name (F\u00e9ret Bordeaux et ses vins, 16th edition, 2001, p.383).<\/p>\n

Successive heirs continuously worked to expand the domaine, and a large bourgeois house was built in 1825. By the end of the 19th century, its wines were highly renowned and sold as Cru Bourgeois du M\u00e9doc under the name Ch\u00e2teau Braneyre Les Gunes.<\/p>\n

On the 1825 cadastral plan (Gironde Departmental Archives), we can see the domaine layout.<\/p>\n

The Braneyre family remained the owners until 1958, when the parcels were divided, sold, or uprooted.<\/p>\n

In 1964, the Lusset-Gug\u00e8s family purchased the estate and gradually planted up to six hectares of vines.<\/p>\n

In 1980, the Gug\u00e8s family took over the vineyard and, after replanting, consolidating, and expanding it to 12 hectares, they began producing wines bottled at the Ch\u00e2teau, now under the names Ch\u00e2teau Braneyre Les Gunes and Ch\u00e2teau Vieux Braneyre.<\/p>\n

In 1993, Mr. Ludwig Cooreman acquired part of the property, and in 1996, to honor the domaine founder and acknowledge the improved quality of the wine, Mr. Cooreman decided to rename the brand Ch\u00e2teau Bertrand Braneyre.<\/p>\n

The Gug\u00e8s family retained the other part of the domaine. On February 25, 1998, they decided to honor their ancestors by naming their prestigious wine “Ch\u00e2teau Gug\u00e8s” and gradually expanded their domaine.<\/p>\n

In April 2017, they sold it to Mr. Zhuravlev, who undertook the renovation of the property, modernizing the facilities while taking special care to respect the heritage.<\/p>\n

New parcels were added to the existing four hectares, and the project gradually took shape by involving recognized professionals, paying close attention to the particularities and specificities of the terroir, with a focus on preserving and continuing its history.<\/p>\n

In 2021, in keeping with the historical narrative, the decision was taken to partially restore the original name of the Ch\u00e2teau, as well as the name of the vineyard acquired in 1785, which has been mentioned in F\u00e9ret\u2019s Bordeaux et ses vins since 1898.<\/p>\n
